Been a long time...

I guess I will try my hand at blogging again. I'm thinking that I will begin posting fun things we are doing as a family, things I'm trying/learning as a teacher, and encouraging tidbits from Bible studies and devotions I'm reading.

Over the past few years... We were in Indian Trail, NC serving at First Baptist Church. David ministered to students 9th -12th grades. I taught at Metrolina Christian Academy, an extension of the church. While there, I taught one year of 1st grade, 2 years as Library/Computer Lab, and one year as the 4th grade LA teacher. I enjoyed many learning experiences there which I will treasure.

In March, David accepted the call to minister to students 6th-12th grades at New River Community Church nrcc.net We moved in June after school was out. We have enjoyed our summer to settle, meet many new friends, and have fun at out new church.

I also had a few challenges this summer. In 2004, while we were in Texas and transitioning to Florida, my SC teaching certificate expired. :-( In June, I began the process of recertification only to find out that I needed to take classes before a new certificate would be given. It was all very confusing... credits vs. hours vs. CEUs. I think I am finally on the right track and I will sub in the meantime until my certificate is current.

Hopefully, I will maintain consistency in my blogging. We shall see... :-)

Living Proof Simulcast

Wow! What an awesome beginning to the month of August! As I finished up the When Godly People Do Ungodly Things Bible Study by Beth Moore, I decided to check out her website to see what she has coming this fall. Well- I was distracted by the events page. You know how I love events! hehehe Anyway- I immediately signed up for the Simulcast conference. David and I were going to be picking up the kids from Grandmother and Papa's so I decided to attend the conference at Brushy Creek in Taylors. My mom mentioned that my cousin Amy might attend, but we decided that being the mother of 4! she would probably be busy. However, after I arrived, by myself, I continued looking around the room for a familiar face. And there she was! I was so excited to see her. It was ironic that I had been trying to talk myself into how cool it was just to go by myself and just let it soak in- no pressure to converse, just me... Yea- well- Ha! I arrived an hour before it started and for 45 minutes was looking for someone to connect with! You know we were made for fellowship! Whether we admit it or not, I usually being the latter, we need one another. The Lord knew I needed my precious cousin Amy, whom I rarely get to see. I needed the connection- not only with a family member, but with a sister, "siesta" as Beth Moore would say, in Christ. On this subject, I'd like to share a few points from When Godly People Do Ungodly Things-
1) Because of the increase in depravity, deception and strongholds in the end times, Satan knows that we will need on another more and more as the Day approaches.
2) Satan is doing everything he can to pervert and destroy relationships. (even make us uninterested in relationships with other believers due to distrust, laziness, etc...)
3) Koinonia means fellowship. In fellowship we receive and give deposits into lives. True
koinonia means good deposits.
Hebrews 10:24-25 says "Let us consider and give attentive, continuous care over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activities, Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together (as believers), as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching.

My First Blog

Greetings from North Carolina! We are in the throws of summer and are enjoying every minute. We just returned from vacation in Florida and we had a ball. We spent a day and 1/2 at Sea World and a day at Disney with our friends the Forresters from GA. We also drove to Clearwater and visited Winter the dolphin at the Marine Aquarium and Clearwater beach. On our way home we spent the night with aunt Shek and Will. Uncle Bob was out of town. She surprised Jake with a birthday banner and brownies with ice cream, sprinkles and 4 candles! Our next stop was Greer where we spent the afternoon at Grandmother's house. We grilled hamburgers, swam and ate lots of cake and ice cream. Happy 4th Birthday Jake!
